18th February 2009: Vancouver

Since we assumed the crowds would have died down a bit from the birth of the baby Whale in June, Vancouver Aquarium was the port of call for today. The sea otters were calling!

Unfortunately the Nyac the female Sea Otter (last surviving sea otter of the Exxon Valdez oil spill) photographed on our last trip died a few months ago :( Apparently Milo is okay on his own though, I asked one of the keepers and he said they weren't really sociable in the wild so they'd not stick with a mate for life natuarally anyway. He still looked a bit lonely to me :(
